What Suede Muse collects
Most of Suede Muse needs no account at all. Flipping tonight's card, reading the FAQ and docs, and using the free toolkit tools don't touch our servers beyond a normal page request.
Chatting with Muse is different. It requires a one-tap Google sign-in through Supabase Auth before your first message — no password to set, nothing else to fill in. That sign-in lets us keep a small usage record: your email, your IP address, your subscription status, when you first visited, and when you were last seen. That record is what lets us enforce the five-free-chats-a-night limit and recognize you on a return visit. It is not your conversation.
Your actual messages — what you tell Muse, what she says back — live in your browser's own localStorage on the free tier. We don't keep a copy. One detail worth knowing: on the free tier, message content does pass through our session-sync endpoint, but we discard it without writing it to the database. Clear your browser data and your messages are gone for good, ours included.
One more small exception: when you light the fuse for your ten-minute sit, your browser tells our server so tonight's communal count can go up. We store only that nightly total — never a record of who lit it.
Leaving a line on the table is the one thing here that is public on purpose. If you choose to leave a line after your sit, that line is published, unsigned, on that night's page for anyone to read. We store the line itself and a one-way fingerprint made from the night's date and your connection's IP address, which exists only to enforce one line per connection per night. The fingerprint changes every night, is never displayed, and is never joined across nights. Every submitted line passes an automated review before it appears, and we can remove any line after the fact. If a line of yours is up and you want it gone, email us the night's date and the exact text and we'll take it down.
How we use it
- To enforce the nightly free-chat limit and recognize returning visitors.
- To send your message to our AI provider and stream back Muse's reply.
- To manage billing if you subscribe.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service.
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not train AI models on your chats.
AI processing
When you send Muse a message, the conversation is sent to OpenRouter, the AI provider that generates her replies. On the free tier, that message is not written to our database — once the reply streams back to your browser, we hold no copy of it server-side. On the paid tier, session titles and messages are stored on our servers (via Supabase) specifically so they can follow you across devices; see “Data retention and deletion” below for how to have that removed.
Payments
The paid plan ($4.99/month) is billed through Stripe. We store your subscription status and Stripe's customer and subscription identifiers so we can gate access to unlimited chats and let you manage your plan. Stripe holds your card details directly — we never see or store them.
Authentication
Sign-in on the web runs through Supabase Auth using Google Sign-In. We receive your name, email address, and profile photo — the standard information Google provides through its sign-in flow. We never see your Google account password.
Data retention and deletion
Your session and chat history on the free tier lives only in your browser. Clear your browser's site data for muse.suedeai.ai and it's gone.
For the usage record we keep server-side (your email, IP, subscription status) or any session history synced under a paid plan, email privacy@suedeai.ai and we'll delete it.
Suede Studio Muse for iOS
Suede Studio Muse, the companion iOS app, is out on the App Store. The commitments in this section are the iOS app's — they don't describe the web product above.
The iOS app has its own account system separate from the web sign-in above — Sign in with Apple or an email-and-password account via Supabase Auth. It saves the lyric drafts and session notes you write and records basic usage data such as which features you use and when you complete a session. Audio recordings you make in the app are stored on your device.
That data drives your daily constraint and the adaptive training loop, your weekly progress scores and AI-generated narrative, and provenance hashes — a cryptographic fingerprint of your session content, used to timestamp and verify your authorship if you later publish a take. AI features (hook finder, verse draft, block signal, progress narrative) send the relevant session text to an AI model to generate a response; voice recordings are never sent to any AI model.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account in the Muse app. Deletion is permanent and removes your sessions, progress data, and profile from our servers. Recordings, which stay on your device, are unaffected by account deletion and are removed when you delete the app.
