flip this on to have the house nudge the tempo up (or down) as you play, bar by bar, until it settles at your target.

How to use
Quick start: Free Online Metronome
- Set a tempo with the slider, the plus and minus buttons, or by typing an exact number. The range is 30 to 260 BPM.
- Not sure of the tempo? Tap the Tap tempo button along with the music and the metronome works out the BPM from your taps.
- Choose a time signature and a subdivision, then press play.
- Click any beat in the row to cycle it between accent, normal, and mute. Muting beats is a useful way to check that your own time holds up.
- To build speed, turn on the speed trainer. Set a start BPM, a target BPM, how many BPM to add, and how many bars to wait between increases. It stops climbing at the target.
Questions
- How do I find the BPM of a song?
- Press Tap tempo in time with the song for several beats. The metronome averages your taps into a BPM, which you can then fine-tune with the exact value box.
- How does the speed trainer work?
- You pick a start BPM and a target BPM. The tempo rises by the amount you set every number of bars you set, then holds at the target. While it runs, it controls the tempo, so the manual tempo controls are locked.
- Can I change which beats are accented?
- Yes. Each beat in the pattern row cycles through accent, normal, and mute when you click or press it, so you can set up a pattern that fits the time signature you chose.
- Does it need an install or an account?
- No. It runs in your browser with no account. Your last settings are remembered on your device so it is ready next time.

The card that calls for the metronome
Muse deals one constraint card a night from a 32-card deck, the same card for every musician. This one points straight at the metronome.
HALF SPEED PULSE · No. 18 / 32
Take the part you keep noodling and play it at half speed for ten minutes. Slow enough to hurt. The feel lives in the space you’ve been skipping.
Set the metronome to sixty or lower, as the card’s first move asks.
